Netmarble has announced that it will shut down The King of Fighters Allstar simultaneously worldwide at the end of October 2024. The mobile game will no longer be available in Japan on October 31, 2024, at 11 AM JST, and in the Americas on October 30, 2024, at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT. [Thanks, 4Gamer.]

The company launched the mobile game first in Japan in July 2018. It later released the game globally in English in October 2019. The King of Fighters Allstar will have a total lifespan of around six years and four months from its initial Japanese release.

The game's development team published a note explaining the decision to shut down the online-exclusive title. It cited a difficulty in maintaining gameplay balance for the numerous characters available in the game, which include crossover characters from other franchises.

Netmarble had previously added many crossover characters from external titles like Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Dead or Alive, and Gintama. It had even included real-world WWE wrestlers, such as John Cena and The Undertaker.

The King of Fighters Allstar is available worldwide on Android and iOS mobile devices until October 30 or 31, 2024, depending on the regions' time zones.

Netmarble announced a major update for The King of Fighters Allstar will arrive on March 24, 2022. Consumers have until March 23, 2022 to pre- on Android and iOS devices. Pre-registration will reward players with a KOF Allstar and Street Fighter V Champion Edition crossover summon ticket. The ticket can be used to obtain a special Street Fighter V crossover character. Total rewards for pre-registration include 500 Rubies and the 10x Street Fighter V ticket. Pre-registration is open now. [Thanks, Gamer!]

Ahead of pre-registration, consumers could use a special crossover code to receive an additional 500 Rubies. The code will remain available until the collaboration with Street Fighter V ends.

Additionally, Netmarble has revealed which Street Fighter V characters will appear in KOF Allstar. Previously, Ryu was revealed as being part of the roster. However, players will be able to obtain two versions of Chun-Li, Akuma, M. Bison, and Luke as well. Alongside a unique illustration, each character has received a mini biography on the official website. A short video for each character will appear in the future.

The King of Fighters Allstar is available on Android and Apple iOS devices, and there is an active PC beta test. The King of Fighters Allstar and Street Fighter V Championship Edition event will begin on March 24, 2022 and conclude on April 19, 2022.

The next The King of Fighters Allstar crossover is on the way. This time, it is with yet another fighting game staple. Street Fighter V is heading to KOF Allstar. Pre-registration is coming on March 15, 2022 date. Ahead of that, there is a Collab Eve Coupon. There is no release date for the event yet.

First, the KOF Allstar Collab Eve Coupon is one of two that will appear. The first is out now. That gives people 500 Rubies if they enter “SFVCOLLABO.” (Android s can do so in the app, but iOS players need to visit a special site.) A second code will arrive in March 2022.

We already know a few of the Street Fighter V characters who will appear in KOF Allstar. On the official site, the art shows Ryu back-to-back with Kyo Kusanagi as the promotional image. On a featured page, standard and "nostalgia" versions of Chun-Li show up too. There are empty spaces for three additional crossover characters.

Two other fighting game’s characters showed up in KOF Allstar in the last year. In June 2021, Dead or Alive 6 folks appeared. After that, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 appeared in November 2021.

The King of Fighters Allstar is available on Android and Apple iOS devices, and there is an active PC beta test. The KOF Allstar Street Fighter V event is on the way, with pre-registration opening for it on March 15, 2022.

King of Fighters All Star is further expanding its territory into other fighting games. The latest conquest for KOF Allstar is the world of Guilty Gear. The free-to-play gacha game's latest event adds six new playable characters from Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2. These "collab fighters" are accompanied by new Dungeons and Bonuses for players to gather up.

As seen in event trailer, the Guilty Gear characters Sol Badguy, Baiken, I-No, May, Dizzy, and Ramlethal Valentine are all present in this KOF Allstar event. They appear as they do in Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, rather than their more current designs as seen in Guilty Gear Strive.

Players can obtain May and Sol Badguy free of charge. May is unlocked by logging in to KOF Allstar during the collaboration period. Sol Badguy is obtained by completing missions and events during the period. The event will have a bespoke storyline to follow as well, introducing players to the fighters and working out why their world is intersecting with that of King of Fighters.
Baiken also appears as a Guild Raid Boss. Players must form teams to inflict as much damage as they can on Baiken within the time limit. That damage can then influence their rewards.

The KOF Allstar x Guilty Gear collaboration event runs until December 8, 2021. The game is immediately available on iOS and Android. Other collaborations for the game added fighters from Dead or Alive 6 and even manga series Gintama.

The King of Fighters Allstar is holding a Dead or Alive 6 collaboration event from July 29 to August 19, 2021, in which players can collect Kasumi, Nyotengu, Marie Rose, and Honoka as fighters. Along with swimsuit versions of the collectible characters, there will also be check-in rewards and three new Dead or Alive-themed dungeons to fight through.

Starting July 29, 2021, players can collect SS Honoka by summoning fighters in the Carnival event. SS Marie Rose is available through clearing in-game missions. SS Kasumi will also be available, along with the swimsuit Angel of Paradise version of Nyotengu and Marie Rose. On August 5, players will have a chance to get SS Nyotengu, as well as Angel of Paradise Kasumi and Honoka.

For 14 days, new players will receive various item reports upon logging into the game, including 200 summon packs as well as two test fighters. The new dungeon, Beach of Paradise, will reward players with rubies and Level Up items upon clearing stages with Dead or Alive characters.

The new Rush Dungeon will also allow players to fight with Dead or Alive 6 characters in order to earn collaboration-themed affinity items. Finally, the Advent Dungeon will pit players against a team of The King of Fighters Kasumi and Dead or Alive 6 Kasumi. Upon defeating the doppelganger duo, players will earn coins that can be traded for Dead or Alive 6-themed Option Cards and Imprint Stones.

Netmarble has also released five new trailers for each fighter, including an additional trailer for the Angel of Paradise version of Marie Rose, showcasing each fighter's abilities and moves.

The King of Fighters Allstar is immediately available on iOS and Android devices, and the Dead or Alive 6 collaboration event will run from July 29 to August 19, 2021.

People have a chance to get new Mai Shiranui and Athena Asamiya alts in The King of Fighters Allstar. For a limited time, a banner offers Special Signature variants of the heroines. Mai is a Red Attack Type who can Burn her enemies. As you may imagine, Burn damages enemies over time for a brief period. Meanwhile, Athena is a Purple Defense Type pop idol with the Starlight ability on her side. Like Burn, Starlight also briefly deals additional damage.

There’s also a trailer showing both of these new heroines in-game. The video kicks things off by showing The King of Fighters Allstar Special Signature Mai. Then, it offers a better look at Athena. At the end, there’s even a look at each of their Battle Cards.

In addition to Mai and Athena, there are a few other bonuses. People have a chance to get Lady Chang Keohan, as she’s on the Fighter Roulette until March 11, 2021. Every day you get three tickets to spin to get the character and her Special Card. The latest rewards will give people 200 Rubies if they sign in regularly until March 11, 2021. The new Score Event also includes Summon Tickets.

It’s that time of year when mobile games are adding holiday versions of units. The King of Fighters ALLSTAR is known for it. (For example, we saw Halloween Gatecrasher Alice for Halloween 2020.) Now for Christmas, people will end up decking the halls with KOF ALLSTAR’s B. Jenet. Except this time, she’s Winter Love Messenger B. Jenet.

This B. Jenet variant is one of many festive elements available in the game immediately. There’s a event that will give people rewards like Summon Tickets if they appear for five days before January 5, 2021. You also have a chance to get one new or existing KOF ALLSTAR holiday alt, like B. Jenet, if you go through the Winter Fighter Selection Event. It and a Catch the Little Thief event will both run until January 6, 2021 and give you chances to get rewards like a character, Awakening EXP Capsules, and Souls. People also have a chance to fight Winter Holiday Chang Koehan in the Team Relay Dungeon until January 10, 2021.

As for Winter Love Messenger B. Jenet, she’s a Green Balance character who is designed to offer buffs for people with her. For example, she can make everyone stronger with Hyper Armor that adds super armor and DMG immunity for three seconds. She also helps other Green characters by increasing their attack and power charge when you use her Leader Skill.

Plenty of winter holiday characters have shown up in KOF ALLSTAR before, so B. Jenet will have company. For example, we’ve seen the aforementioned Winter Holiday Chang Koehan, Winter Holiday Leona, Winter Holiday Whip, and Winter Holiday Yuri Sakazaki.

The King of Fighters ALLSTAR is available for Android and Apple iOS devices. The app will be celebrating the holidays with most of its events running until January 6, 2021.

Just in time for Halloween, players will be rewarded with Halloween-themed characters, missions, and dungeons. The companies also provided stats on the mobile game's success since it first launched in English back in October 2019.

The beat-'em-up RPG rewards players during this spooky season with Halloween-themed updates. The main contents are:

• Guild Raid. Enter Guild Dungeons where players work together to defeat bosses and earn imprint stones, skill cards, exp capsules, and more.
• Halloween Gatecrasher Alice. Available via the summon box.
• Halloween Rush Dungeon. Earn Halloween Night Mary and special cards upon completion.
• Halloween Super Mission. Beat the mission and collect Halloween Night Xiangfei, and earn exp capsules and gold.
• Zombie Road, a new team relay dungeon. Fight a Halloween-themed boss with up to five teams. Only available for players who are rank 40 and up. Win and earn gold, rubies, and more.
• Halloween Check-in Event. Earn skill level-up cards by participating.

The definition of a “King of Fighters” keeps being tested with The King of Fighters ALLSTAR. The mobile game’s latest collaboration has begun, and this time it is tapping into a rather notable anime series. A The King of Fighters ALLSTAR Gintama crossover has kicked off and will run in-game until August 13, 2020.

As you might imagine, this means multiple Gintama characters can be earned as you go through the game. Some events will be in place to let you earn warriors from the series. Like Kagura’s Super Mission will mean you can recruit Kagura. You could also earn Elizabeth with the Gintama Attendance Event. There will also be dungeons and the ability to try and pull other characters.

Even though the game isn’t that old, it is already known for unusual sorts of crossover events. It was pretty normal when the Tekken 7 one happened. Like you expect that. But then there was the WWE collaboration, which resulted in figures like John Cena being added.

Netmarble released a new fighter for The King of Fighters ALLSTAR with Lady Kim Kaphwan, the Taekwondo master's female version.

In the Japanese version of the game, her name is simply "Pretty Kim" and she's voiced by Ayaka Ohashi. While Kim may have had his gender changed by Stein, Lady Kim still has all the Taekwondo skills. In the video, we get to see a bunch of Kim's iconic moves including his trademark sweat-wipe.

Lady Kim Kaphwan is now available as a 5★ fighter and a 5★ special card "Falling Phoenix Kick <Lady Kim Kaphwan>".

Now that we have female Kim Kaphwan, she s the likes of several other genderbent characters in The King of Fighters ALLSTAR. In addition to Lady Billy Kane, Lady Chang Koehan, and Lady Yashiro pictured above, there's Lady Mr. Big, Lady Zero (Clone), and Lady Zero (Original).

If you've been playing The King of Fighters ALLSTAR, you've probably spent a few thousand rubies on pulls. Even if you haven't spent a dime of real money, ALLSTAR has been running since October 2019, and that's plenty of time to rack up free currency. Either way, SNK and Netmarble kicked off the King of Fighters ALLSTAR Ruby Refund event, and it's a doozy. Based on your ruby spending to date, you get a lump sum of limited-use rubies. (There's a cap of 20,000.) But the festivities don't end there.

By limited-use rubies, we mean these ones come with a deadline. When you get your King of Fighters ALLSTAR ruby refund, you have until July 22, 2020 to use them. If you have normal rubies, the temporary ones will be used first for any purchases. If you're new, don't fret--the minimum payout is still 10,000 rubies. But if you've spent at least 20,000 before the May 27 cutoff point, you get the full refund.

In addition to the refund, there's also a set of daily tasks for the duration of the event, which will last for roughly 20 days. Each task comes with ruby rewards, and a daily bonus will also net an additional 10,000 limited-time rubies if you show up at least seven days.

Basically, if you've been needing specific fighters or battle cards to bolster your roster but hesitate to spend rubies between big events, now's the time. These bonus rubies have an expiration date, so don't feel bad for blowing them. That's the whole point!

In the world of performance art, in the world of athletic events, in the world of storytelling, pro wrestling stands in a unique position. It’s a world that challenges reality as we know it, only to crash into it in some of the worst possible ways. Pro wrestling is a fake fight in of stats and competition, but a real fight against physics, convention, and time. That said, wrestling is also very, very silly, and its cross-section between its own diegetic unreality and the real conventions of live entertainment means… weird stuff happens in cross-promotion campaigns. That’s why in the diegetic fiction of the WWE, Brock Lesnar has real-life UFC credentials, WrestleMania 2020 took place in closed sets and empty arenas (and a magic graveyard???) due to COVID-19, and The Muppets and Robocop are actual, living persons. That’s also why it’s totally reasonable John Cena is the most powerful fighter in the King of Fighters universe.

Yeah, so, for the last couple weeks the fighter/brawler hybrid The King of Fighters ALLSTAR has been running a WWE crossover event. Mobile games run crossovers all the time (especially the ones run via Japanese properties), but this one has attracted attention because… it’s weird! Wrestling always operates in this sort of intersection of nerd culture, memes, and cultural curiosity in addition to the regular fanbase, so it makes sense a lot of SNKheads out there are confused. But thanks to the fun characters, goofy art, and limited event storyline that is all about just having fun with this situation, it seems like everyone is having a good time with it.

Netmarble and SNK did hook us up with some currency, and over the course of things I’ve gotten a hold of most WWE content. I believe I’m equipped enough in King of Fighters ALLSTAR to make a value judgment on the event stuff, and am pretty confident in my opening statement. John Cena, the good ol’ Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect version, the “lookin’ like a box of Fruity Pebbles edition,” is absurdly powerful. At first I was disappointed Cena’s alter ego, the Doctor of Thuganomics, wasn’t as good. But after spending some time and resources into building this guy up, the path I’m on is super exciting. And ultimately, the added ironic value of BRRRRRAPADOOO blaring from my phone every time I win a fight is a long-term plus.

To get the most out of The King of Fighters ALLSTAR John Cena, you do unfortunately need almost a full WWE roster. This is a situational team setup, and the situation is having luck, money, or access. As you might expect, the WWE characters have good synergy together, much like the Tekken and Samurai Shodown event characters. But thanks to a specific combination of John Cena, the Undertaker, and some pre-existing King of Fighters cards you can get through normal play, a well-equipped WWE team will absolutely dominate everything but ALLSTAR’s sloppy PvP systems.

First off is the easy part; John Cena’s leader skill nets a ludicrous 55% ATK bonus to WWE Superstar characters. Now, Cena isn’t the only fighter with this ability. Both Tekken and Samurai Shodown have respective characters in that spot. Some others have a higher ATK bonus, but those come with drawbacks. While the upfront ATK boost is amazing, the real booster comes from the Undertaker. Pairing the two together nets the WWE Legends bonus, which increases ATK by 10% of overall DEF. Of course, Cena is built like a tank and his Never Give Up option card provides a good boost to DEF. From there, I picked out the Kula’s Vacation card set, each of which boost DEF… but if you get all three, say hello to another ATK bonus conversion, this one a whopping 40% of your DEF. WWE Legends also shortens skill cooldowns, so giving Cena Unreal Peace for his second option card gives even more DEF, plus a boost to the cooldown side effect. Everything else is just gravy, including such clean juggle states on Cena’s moveset it’s almost impossible to miss chaining everything together.

I have Becky Lynch and People’s Champion The Rock rounding out my team, paired with Seth Rollins and Doctor of Thuganomics John Cena respectively. Kofi Kingston is cooler than Rollins, but Rollins’ striker ability is a bit more useful. That said, Kingston is much easier to boost up since his cards are available via the event dungeon, and can also sit in Becky’s spot as well. Those three are pretty interchangeable based on what you can pull. They sync up well with each other, and of course whoever you place benefits from Cena’s leader skill bump. As an aside, I put The Doctor of Thuganomics in my other Yellow team even though he isn't great, because of the joy this image brings me every time I see it:

The King of Fighters ALLSTAR John Cena, like the characters set up to be the overall leaders in other events, is a great option as leader thanks to a big, upfront ATK boost. But it’s his synergy with converting DEF to additional attack with The Undertaker and Kula’s Vacation that makes him a dominating force. Obviously your mileage may vary when it comes to limited event content, and I’m sure there are amazingly powerful combinations I haven’t found yet, since I’m playing ALLSTAR pretty casually. But considering the nonsense I’ve pulled off with my Cena team, I’m standing by my assessment for now. Cena’s got his soul straight, he’ll brush your mouth like Colgate, and he’s the most powerful King of Fighters competitor.

The King of Fighters ALLSTAR hasn’t quite been out for a year yet, but it’s picking up steam recently thanks to a widespread bemusement towards its current crossover event. It even brought me back after I had taken a bit of a break. Some of ALLSTAR’s systems can be a little janky or frustrating, but at its core, combining fighting game properties with beat ‘em up gameplay is a lot of fun. I play this on a much more casual level compared to Dragalia Lost, but I do have a few pointers locked and loaded.

If you’re looking to jump in, but finding a need for a King of Fighters ALLSTAR guide to help you wade through the nonsense, look no further. Here are a few tips I think are crucial for getting the most out of SNK and Netmarble’s quirky little brawler.

A good defense…

The King of Fighters ALLSTAR is as much of a defensive game as it is about racking up sick combos. Especially as you move up the rankings, the AI gets more and more aggressive. After all, they have the same tools you do, and those tools are kinda busted. So while it’s tempting to just run in and start throwing hands, the AI won’t think twice about popping its emergency dodge and laying you out. A much better approach in tough fights is to hang back and create an opening before you attack, to make sure you can get that juggle state without getting bodied.

Those juggles tho

Sooner rather than later, you’re going to have a full team of three fighters and three strikers. Everything you can do in ALLSTAR, from specials to swapping characters, runs on individual cooldowns. That includes each character’s suite of special moves. And, for the most part, it’s really easy to extend a juggle state, especially in the corners. Not only do most special moves end with a juggle window, tagging in another character also resets the juggle to all but guarantee the next hit lands. Once you get used to the timing, you can call in the whole team and run through all your specials, sometimes netting the win in one combo.

Don’t get got by the gacha

There’s a super fun event right now, crossing over The King of Fighters with the WWE. Even if you aren’t into wrestling, the WWE affectations and storylines are hilariously weird. You may be tempted to do gacha pulls every time you have enough rubies, but even if you get the character you want, you might walk away disappointed. This is one of those dreaded games with multiple gachas, meaning characters get powered up by additional unlocks.

So if you get a Terry Bogard, for example, he won’t be complete until you get his special card, his unique option card, and so on. It’s better to take advantage of the free content (events do offer some free characters for playing) and stockpile rubies until you’re ready to play high roller. The basic characters’ cards are also obtainable by other means, making spending rubies on normal pulls kinda pointless. ALLSTAR also gives the usual daily free pulls, and personally I’ve had pretty good luck getting Ultra Rare drops from those. If you’re patient enough, you can get pretty far without emptying your coffers.

It brings me great personal joy to type this collection of words out; reality is crashing in upon itself in a way I never expected. Also, I'm going to kick somebody in the face as Becky Lynch in a King of Fighters game. SNK and Netmarble revealed the first set of characters included in the WWE King of Fighters ALLSTAR collaboration event. It looks like six characters in total will eventually appear, but the starting three are Becky Lynch, Kofi Kingston, and The Undertaker.

This was all revealed in a new trailer showing in-game footage of all three wrestlers. Kofi Kingston and Becky Lynch look like their current selves, and of course The Undertaker is an undead wrestling necromancer-slash-cowboy biker, so his appearance defies time as we understand it. If the previous Tekken collaboration is any indication, acquiring these characters will involve a mix of purchase, gacha rolling, and things like a roulette. (That's how I managed to get Paul.)

The WWE collab is coming on May 14, 2020 as part of a larger update to King of Fighters ALLSTAR. On the event's website, it seems like the marquee new feature is a revision to the game's summoning systems. More details may be filled out on the site, but since the event is only days away, it might also be wise to  King of Fighters ALLSTAR if you're curious about this unexpected crossover.

For just under a year, SNK and Netmarble have been running a gacha-based, mobile beat 'em up called King of Fighters Allstar. Through building teams of various KoF character iterations, players can get a new perspective on their favorites, Streets of Rage style. Collaborations draw folks to gacha games, and King of Fighters Allstar's first one, featuring Tekken, went quite well. Yes, you read that right. SNK's King of Fighters roster is about to step into the squared circle with some number of WWE Superstars. Official channels haven't yet revealed any wrestlers or other new features just yet, but I'll personally be shocked if popular legacy characters like The Rock or The Undertaker don't make an appearance. Considering the Tekken event only included a handful of characters, don't count on your mid-card favorites to show up.

The only detail we have right now is the logo graphic for the collaboration, which doesn't help this bizarre crossover feel real. The announcement tweet includes a website link, but as of this writing it hasn't yet been updated with news on who is showing up.
