Konami’s May 2025 Suikoden series showcase focused on introducing some Suikoden Star Leap characters and concepts, and we got to see Flik, Odessa Silverberg, and Viktor. As this is a prequel set about four years prior to the original game, it provides an opportunity to see them when they were younger, just starting out, and heading down paths that would lead to their increased involvement as major characters in Suikoden 1 and 2. We also get to see moments involving them in the story and as allies in fights in the latest trailer. 

In the case of Flik, Odessa, and Viktor, we get to see their Suikoden Star Leap portraits, two of them in a fight, and story scenes with each. Viktor comes up first, and we see him with Flik and Odessa, then wrestling a bear. Flik is introduced as he steps in to help the hero and new allies, and we see Odessa in a city scene immediately after that. We then see the two of them dealing with tricky situations, meeting with this entry’s original characters, and finally with Odessa ing this installment’s hero in battle to shoot her arrows at opponents.

Here’s the new Suikoden Star Leap trailer. It looks at characters, exploration, and how landmarks from mainline titles like Teo McDohl’s home will look in-game. While things start by introducing original characters such as Hisui, Shirin, and Shapur, it quickly brings up returning ones like Viktor, Flik, and Odessa and shows they’ll be playable.

Konami announced the second Suikoden Live broadcast, with this latest game showcase focusing on the new mobile game Suikoden Star Leap. It will air at 7am PT/10am ET on May 15, 2025, and we’ll be able to catch it on the official YouTube channel for the company again. 

The main attraction in the Suikoden Live will be Suikoden Star Leap, which will be considered a mainline game that acts as a prequel to the entries in Suikoden I & II HD Remaster. From what we’ve heard, it will follow how the Rune of Change, one of the True Runes, allows us to see both the past, present, and future of the series. Konami revealed it during the first broadcast back in March 2025. Kadokawa will also handle a manga version of its story once it debuts. We also know there will still be character recruiting, and past characters like Viki appeared in the first trailer for it.

Konami also noted there will be some talk about Suikoden I & II HD Remaster during this showcase too. That is headed to the Switch 2 after it launches. The company’s also been releasing patches for it regularly.

Suikoden Star Leap has been formally revealed by Konami. This title is the latest entry in the beloved JRPG series, returning to the 2D spirit of the first couple of PS1 titles. This is a brand new, original game that is set in the same universe as the mainline Suikoden games.

Suikoden Star Leap was revealed for Android and iOS during the Suikoden Live 2025 event. The mobile game appears to be a traditional turn-based experience that features 2D graphics reminiscent of the HD-2D style. It will act as a canonical, in-universe prequel to the original Suikoden I as well as a sequel to Suikoden V, set in between both games.

The new mobile game will feature its own set of 108 Stars for players to recruit throughout the world. These 108 recruitable characters will be completely original, brand new characters that will the player’s home base. That home base will be a repurposing of the protagonist’s destroyed village that can be customized and expanded upon.

For those fans looking to see returning characters, some series favorites will make an appearance here. In addition to the core 108 new characters, players will be able to fight alongside familiar faces. The story will center around a specific Rune of Change and how it affects the main characters on their journey.

Suikoden Star Leap doesn’t end with the mobile game, though. There is also a manga adaptation of its plot coming down the line. Unfortunately, there is no confirmation at this time of a worldwide release of the game or manga. There is also no release date or window for their releases in Japan for now. More details are to come soon, as Suikoden Live will now become a regular Konami event. Before Star Leap’s release, Suikoden I & II HD Remaster will drop on March 6, 2025.
