At MCM London Comic Con 2025, Yen Press announced it will release the Love Bullet manga in English and will release a Complete Box Set of Fruits Basket. The first volume of the yuri manga and box set will both appear in November 2025, though there’s no exact release date for either one yet. 

In the case of Love Bullet, it’s a series from inee about a young woman named Koharu. After she dies, following a confession from her best friend Aki, she becomes one of the Cupids who helps people fall in love. As they spread happiness, they might eventually be able to get a chance to become a human again. Koharu now works alongside Kanna, Chiyo, and Ena to spread love and solve problems with romance.

Inee shared the following image on social media to celebrate the English Love Bullet manga localization announcement.

As for the Yen Press Fruits Basket: The Complete Set release, that will feature all 23 volumes of the manga series. The announcement also confirmed lenticular cards will be included with it.

Two other manga were confirmed as part of the Yen Press MCM London Comic Con 2025 reveals. One is The Terrifying Students at Ghoul School. The anime for that is already appearing worldwide on Crunchyroll. The other is The Girl Past the Filters. Both will also appear in November 2025.

If you don’t or you just want to add some anime series to that list, I have some recommendations for you. Below, you’ll find the 10 anime series that I think every single anime fan should watch or at least try once before they die.

When it comes to determining the 10 anime series to watch before you die, I tried to broaden the spectrum and focus on series that are seemingly completed or at least have a fair bit to watch. In addition, I wanted to focus on various genres from action to romance to more depressing works. While not perfect, these are series that I think will impress and appeal to the most people at once.

I also tried to focus mainly on more recent anime since many people already know about the classics like Akira, Clannad, Cowboy Bebop, and Naruto. Without further ado, here are the 10 anime series I recommend to everyone to try:

• Death Parade: This is Madhouse at its finest. Taking place in the afterlife, each every two episodes or so focuses on a new set of people who die at the same time. They compete in fun little games before being judged for their actions. The revelations that come about during these seemingly innocent games provides some of the most thought-provoking and tragic anime moments of all time.
• Dr. Stone: One of the few modern masterpieces, this series takes place in the far future as people start to awaken from being petrified in place for thousands of years. Its storytelling is remarkably consistent alongside the welcome action as main character Senku reinvents science and technology in surprisingly realistic ways.
• Fruits Basket: If you want to see a romance series, look no further. The masterpiece manga series was made even better in its latest anime adaptation. It is so well-rounded, able to make you laugh one second, cry the next, and constantly cheer for this Zodiac-themed, animal-transforming family.
• Kino’s Journey - The Beautiful World: Episodic anime series tend to be some of the best and this is one prime example. Each episode focuses Kino and a talking motorcycle as the duo travels from town to town. It never overstays its welcome, while also teaching some unforgettable lessons about life, especially in the latter half. The less you know, the better here.
• March Comes in Like a Lion: No other anime takes a look at depression like this one. It follows an orphan boy who happens to be a genius shogi player. While it may appear like a sports or competition anime at first glance, it is actually a riveting and unforgettable look at mental health through the eyes of the incredible Studio Shaft.
• My Hero Academia: While not completely done at the time of writing, it is quite close. This superhero action-packed shonen series can appeal to anyone. However, its real value comes from the incredible action and characters that only get better as the series goes on.
• Spy x Family: Yes, this is still ongoing. But there are a couple of seasons, a movie, and still more on the way. Spy x Family is the quintessential anime for everyone. It has a bit of action with this spy and assassin-themed makeshift family’s shenanigans. But then it is also extremely heartwarming and hilarious the rest of the time. This is the feel-good anime series.
• To Your Eternity: No list about dying is complete without the anime that focuses on an immortal character. His journey across hundreds of years leads to some of the depressing yet meaningful plot development and characters I have ever seen.
• Violet Evergarden: This emotional masterpiece tells the story of a girl who experiences trauma and becomes half a mechanical doll, both literally and figuratively. She helps a different person in each episode. At the same time, she learns about herself, leading to some of the most tearjerking scenes in anime.
• Yuri on Ice: Even if you aren’t a sports anime fan, this is the one to watch. It tells the story of Yuri, a down-and-out former ice skater looking to return, and Victor, his renowned coach. The two’s connection with one another leads to one of the most memorable relationships in anime. Plus, the actual ice skating sequences from MAPPA are gorgeous along with having one of the best soundtracks. It is a shame, honestly, that we will likely never see a continuation of this series.

Ohagi3, a traditional Japanese sweets shop, will be collaborating with the anime and manga series Fruits Basket in December 2023. The Shimokitazawa shop now has two sets of four ohagi themed after Fruits Basket characters available for pre-order for the price of 1,320 yen ($8.92) each. [Thanks, Natalie!]

The A set includes ohagi based on the characters Tohru Honda, Yuki Sohma, Momiji Sohma, and Hatori Sohma. Tohru’s ohagi is in the shape of an onigiri (rice ball), and Yuki’s is shaped like a rat, which corresponds to his representative zodiac animal in the series. Momiji’s ohagi is honey and cheese flavored, while Hatori’s tastes like purple sweet potato.

The B set features the characters Kyo Sohma, Hatsuharu Sohma, Ayame Sohma, and Shigure Sohma. Kyo’s ohagi is in the shape of a cat, which is his zodiac animal from the series. It’s also flavored with Kinako (roasted soybean flour). Shigure’s ohagi flavor is matcha, Hatsuharu’s is coconut, and Ayame’s is strawberry.

Both sets come with a different postcard featuring the characters represented by the included ohagi. The art print includes chibi illustrations of the characters next to their representative ohagi. Acrylic stands of the Fruits Basket ohagi illustrations and characters will also be sold at the Ohagi3 Shimokitazawa location for 880 yen ($5.94) each.

Reservations to purchase the Fruits Basket ohagi sets must be made at least five days in advance of your visit to Ohagi3 in Shimokitazawa, Japan. Reservations will be accepted until December 13, 2023.

Crunchyroll announced the Fruits Basket Prelude USA, Canada, and UK release dates. It will appear in theaters in North America in June 2022. The first showing will be on June 25, 2022, with additional ones on June 28-29, 2022. English dub and Japanese ones with English subtitles will appear. The UK release will appear on July 20, 2022. Only the English dub will show up in theaters in the region.

The announcement also involved details about when people can buy tickets. Fandango will begin offering them for the North American releases on June 3, 2022. People in the UK won't be able to buy them until June 24, 2022.

Here's the poster for the movie. As this is a prequel, it stars Tohru Honda's mother Kyoko and father Katsuya. It shows how the two met and fell in love. However, Tohru and Kyo Soma will make cameo appearances.

The official English dub cast was revealed as well. Here's who will play every character in the film. Both Tohru and Kyo’s voice actors will reprise their roles.

• Kyoko Honda: Lydia Mackay
• Tohru Honda: Laura Bailey

The Kanagawa Prefecture Red Cross and Fruits Basket will collaborate on a blood donation campaign between January 17, 2022 and February 28, 2022. The collaboration will feature Shigure, Hatori, and Ayame Souma in white doctor’s coats. They will appear on posters, as well as on limited merchandise. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

This campaign is to encourage more people to donate blood. In order to do so, the Red Cross is offering limited merchandise that use the campaign's main visual. 1,500 people will be able to get acrylic clear folders and 1000 people will be able to get sticker exchange tickets, with both types of goods featuring the three. This is on a first come, first serve basis. As for the sticker exchange tickets, you can go to Animate stores in Kanagawa to choose the sticker you want.

This is the second collaboration between Fruits Basket and the Red Cross. In 2021, the Red Cross had Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo on ments and merchandise. The prizes for this collaboration, as well as how to get them, were the same as this one’s. Additionally, both Fruits Basket and Red Cross collaborations were limited to the Kanagawa Prefecture.

The Fruits Basket and Red Cross collaboration will start on January 17, 2022 and end on February 28, 2022. Fruits Basket is readily available for streaming on services such as Funimation, and a new anime series following Tohru's parents will start airing some time in 2022.

A new Fruits Basket anime will appear in 2022 alongside a stage play based off of the original manga. The new Fruits Basket anime will star Tohru's parents and is titled Kyо̄ko to Katsuya no Monogatari. However, exact details about the anime have yet to be revealed. This information was revealed through the official Fruits Basket website, which ed a post stating that this new anime would arrive sometime in 2022. This also included information regarding an Fruits Basket stage play, which will be entirely based off of the events of the manga. It will also appear sometime in 2022. More detailed information regarding both of these new projects will arrive sometime in the future.

Additionally, a six minute video is available to watch through the official website. This video features the announcement of Kyо̄ko to Katsuya no Monogatari and a special thank you to the viewers as the current adaptation of the series comes to a close.

An entirely new animated adaptation of Fruits Basket released in June 2021, featuring a new visual art style. The final episode of the anime aired in late June 2021 to Japanese audiences. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for the Nintendo Switch. Fruits Basket the Final, the third season of the show, is currently running and can be seen on Funimation.

Funimation will debut the first episode of Fruits Basket The Final as part of an early premiere event. The event begins on March 19, 2021, at 12 pm ET. This date is two weeks before the season officially debuts in Japan on April 5, 2021.

In addition to the episode's debut, the premier event will feature appearances by the English cast of the anime. Viewers can expect to see Eric Vale, Jerry Jewell, Ian Sinclair, Colleen Clinkenbeard, and Palencia Palencia during their viewing. The voice actors play Yuki Soma, Kyo Soma, Kureno Soma, Akito Soma, and Isuzu Soma, respectively.

People in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom can catch the event on Funimation, while people in Australia or New Zealand can view it via AnimeLab.

On March 11, 2021, Funimation released a subbed trailer for the new season. It’s worth noting that the trailer contains scenes that could spoil the show if you’re not up to date on the series. It is currently possible to catch up on the first two seasons and their dubs on Funimation or the first two seasons with subtitles on Crunchyroll.

The Funimation Fruits Basket The Final premiere event is on March 19, 2021. Funimation will release a dubbed version of the final season at some point in Spring 2021.

Funimation revealed Fruits Basket season 3, known officially as Fruits Basket The Final, will get an English dub and be streaming in Spring 2021. It didn’t reveal any possible cast or changes. However, it did share a trailer with some emotional scenes from throughout the past few seasons.

As people familiar with the series might expect, certain characters get more attention than others in the video. Namely, Tohru, Kyo, Yuki, Shigure, and Akito are all featured prominently. There are also a few spoilers for moments in characters’ lives throughout the series. (So if you aren’t familiar with some of the relationships, it might be best not to watch.)

There’s no English streaming date for the final season of the new Fruits Basket anime yet. However, Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu all have the first and second seasons available. The original anime adaptation from 2001 is also available on services like Funimation and Hulu. It’s a big day for the Nintendo Switch! The system is getting its first real anime streaming service app. (The YouTube app is nice, but it can feel like a different sort of thing.) With the Funimation Switch app, there’s a whole new catalog open to you. But, what should you watch? What might be worth your time if you’re new to the service or anime in general? Well, my goal is to offer a few show suggestions that might be worth your time.

Persona 5 the Animation is a good show for newcomers to start with on Funimation, because it’s based on a video game. Persona, as a series, has become more of a mainstream JRPG. Persona 5 Strikers is also going to show up on the Switch next year, and watching the anime adaptation via the Funimation app will provide helpful context you might not already have due to the original games being PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 exclusives.

Demon Slayer is one of those series that has exploded in popularity worldwide. (Its movie made over 27 billion yen in under two months in Japan.) This is the classic sort of story where a young man named Tanjiro s with his friends (and new demon sister, Nezuko) to become a Demon Slayer Corps member to fight, you guessed it, demons.

My Hero Academia is another one of those shows that, if watched on the Funimation Switch app, can help provide people with background information. My Hero One’s Justice and its sequel both appeared on the console and, while they do have story modes that give you an idea of what Deku and his classmates go through, the four seasons on Funimation offer a lot more insight into their adventures.

Cowboy Bebop is a classic and, while it is generally a sci-fi adventure, its episodes can’t really be confined to a single genre. It is a fantastic show. Plus, Netflix is working on a live action adaptation, so now is a good time to refresh your memory and savor the original anime.

I’ll it, this one is me being rather self indulgent. Fruits Basket is a touching series with a bit of modern fantasy mixed with teenage drama, comedy, and romance. Both seasons of the new anime adaptation are available on Funimation, and it’s both charming and heartwarming.
