On November 10, 2024, Cartoon Network in Japan will air a special program to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Teen Titans cartoon. It is also the 10th anniversary of Teen Titans Go!

The Japanese voice actors behind the Teen Titans will all make an appearance to discuss the charm of both Go and the original. The full title of the program can loosely translate to “Go with Teen Titans! Batman 85th Anniversary Collaboration Special.” Also on November 10, 2024, you’ll also be able to watch a special collection of episodes from both TV series. In the press release, Cartoon Network confirmed that it would air movies like Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans and Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo as well.

Cartoon Network premiered Teen Titans in 2003, and it’s based off DC Comics’s Teen Titans series. During its three year run, it was highly popular and received several nominations. Though it’s based on American comics, it featured anime-like tropes in its designs and animation style. It wasn’t the only American cartoon to do so during the early 2000s. Martin Mystery was another show that used a similar aesthetic. The reboot, Teen Titans Go! premiered in 2013 and was far more comedic in tone.

The Teen Titans 20th anniversary special program will air on Cartoon Network in Japan on November 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM JST.

SEGA and DC Comics have announced a new collaboration, DC x Sonic Generations, set to launch in March 2025. The crossover will feature a monthly comic series written by Sonic the Hedgehog writer Ian Flynn. The series will run until 2026 and will include Sonic characters reimagined as DC superheroes.

During a recent Sonic Central livestream, SEGA and DC provided a preview of the crossover, revealing characters like Shadow as Batman, Knuckles as Superman, Amy as Wonder Woman, and Sonic as The Flash. Alongside the comic series, the collaboration will include various merchandise and licensed products. This crossover marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between SEGA and DC Comics, with plans for more content and media releases beyond 2025. 

In related news, Sega has revealed the release date for the Sonic x Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings anime series, which will serve as a prologue to the Sonic x Shadow Generations game. The first episode, titled Shadow and Maria, will premiere on September 25, 2024, on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel.

The DC x Sonic comic series will begin its run in March 2025. Sonic x Shadow Generations will come to the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on October 25, 2024.

LEGO announced its next set based on a comic series, and it is a Batman: The Classic TV Series Batmobile based on the car that showed up in the 1966 show. It costs $149.99, and pre-orders are already open through Amazon and LEGO directly ahead of its October 1, 2024 debut.

This set features 1822 pieces total, and it is recommended for people ages 18 and up. You get to build the Batmobile, with included Bat-Computer in the opening trunk, as well as a Batman minifigure with stand and vehicle information plate. The finished set will be 19 inches long and five inches tall. It can also roll, due to the design of the wheels and set. 

To compare, here is a photo of the original 1966 Batmobile from the Batman TV show from the Hollywood Star Cars Museum alongside the LEGO set.

This is one of many new LEGO sets on the way. For example, three more Animal Crossing ones will show up in January 2025. One of those will be the Able Sisters shop. There will also be Mario Kart sets appearing for the first time on January 1, 2025 as well.

Following a report by Video Game Chronicle, early access servers for the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League have been taken offline due to a bug that automatically completed the game the first time it was launched. Developer Rocksteady is performing maintenance and expects a delay of several hours before the game becomes available again. [Thanks, VGC!]

While the game is not set to launch until February 2, 2024, players who pre-ordered the deluxe edition would be able to enter a 72-hour early access period. Due to timezones and the launch schedule, New Zealand was the area this launched in first. However, players soon discovered that they had been awarded game completion status when they logged into it despite not having played before. The servers were taken offline soon afterwards.

A video of the game's Co-op gameplay surfaced back in early 2023, around the same time it featured at Sony's State of Play event. There is also an unrelated anime series titled Suicide Squad Isekai in production by WIT Studio, expected sometime in 2024.

Servers for the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League early access period are currently offline for maintenance following discovery of a major bug. The game is set to launch in full on February 2, 2024, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, with a 72 hour early access period for deluxe edition owners.

Warner Bros. Games and DC used Sony's State of Play broadcast to showcase gameplay from Suicide Squad on February 23, 2023. Created by Batman: Arkham series developer Rocksteady, a new trailer showed off an extended look at the game's combat systems and 4-player cooperative gameplay. The new reveal arrives in late May 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

In the trailer, the quartet is sent to rescue fellow supervillain Lex Luthor from none other than the Flash, who appears to be working with or for Brainiac, a Kryptonian menace. Each character uses their unique movement skills and combat abilities to take on groups of enemies, including battle tanks and robotic drones. They also destroy a massive, building-size robotic foe before managing to rescue Luthor from his captivity. They're confronted by the Flash before Wonder Woman intervenes, attempting to use her Lasso of Truth to force the Flash to tell her how to reverse whatever process is causing them to become a threat. The Flash says that "We have to die to save the world."

First revealed at the DC Fandome event back in 2020, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League stars the of Task Force X, a.k.a. the "Suicide Squad." It's a group of villains coerced into working for the government to tackle threats and perform missions that are too shady for the superheroes of the DC universe. In this case, Batman villain Deadshot, Flash villain Captain Boomerang, Aquaman villain King Shark, and the Joker's partner Harley Quinn are sent up against the Justice League itself. In a behind-the-scenes trailer, of the Rocksteady development team said that the story takes place five years after the conclusion of 2015's Batman: Arkham Knight, Rocksteady's previous game. Suicide Squad will also be the last voice performance for voice actor Kevin Conroy, who recorded his lines as Batman in the game before he died in November 2022.

Suicide Squad will release on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 26, 2023.

The roster of pricey pop culture statues continues to grow. A new Poison Ivy figure will run Batman superfans almost $1,400 to own. It's manufactured by Prime 1 Studio as part of its Museum Masterline series. [Thanks, Dengeki Hobby!]

Formally called the Poison Ivy Batman: Hush (Skin Color Version), the new Poison Ivy figure depicts the iconic Batman villain as she appears in the 2002 "Hush" storyline. There is one difference, however. This version shows Ivy with a natural skin tone. A second Prime 1 Batman: Hush figure shows Ivy with a more "canon-friendly" light green skin tone.

The Museum Masterline Poison Ivy figure is designed at 1/3rd scale and stands at 78.4cm tall (about 30 inches). The design shows Ivy sitting on one of her mutated vines. It costs about $1,349 on Prime 1 Studio's site, but its Japanese retail price is 193,490 Yen (about $1,490).

Batman: Hush ran in Batman issues #608 to #619 from 2002 to 2003. It was written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Alex Sinclair. The story followed Batman as he fought to unravel a grand conspiracy against him. Those involved included Batman's enemies like Killer Croc, the Joker, the Riddler, with the plan masterminded by a new villain: A bandaged man called "Hush." In the story, Poison Ivy uses her pheremone-based mind-control powers to manipulate Catwoman and even Superman into acting against Batman. Batman: Hush was later adapted into an animated film in 2019.

The Batman: Hush Poison Ivy figure is available for pre-order. Prime 1 Studio also produced a NieR Automata 2B figure.

Best known for his work on the Final Fantasy franchise, artist Yoshitaka Amano has been commissioned by comics publisher DC to create a Batman series variant cover. The Yoshitaka Amano Detective Comics cover was revealed in DC's solicitations for August 2022. [Thanks, GamesRadar!]

Check out a preview of the Yoshitaka Amano Batman illustration below. It will appear as a variant cover on issue #1063 of DC's Detective Comics. It goes on sale on August 23, 2022.

The Yoshitaka Amano Batman cover is a "1:25" variant. This means that one variant edition will be printed for every 25 standard editions, making it more scarce by default. Another variant cover with art by X-Men artist Jim Lee, inker Scott Williams, and colorist Alex Sinclair will be printed at a 1:50 ratio. The issue is expected to cost $4.99 USD for the standard and $5.99 USD for the variants.

Detective Comics is the original name of the series that DC took its name as a publisher from. Beginning in 1937, Detective Comics saw the debut of iconic American superhero characters like Batman and is the longest continuously published comic in the United States. DC reset its numbering in 2011 after 881 issues but resumed the original count in 2016 with issue #934. Issue #1063, which bears the Yoshitaka Amano Batman variant, will feature interactions between Batman's alter ego Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent, the original identity of the villain Two-Face.

For his part, Yoshitaka Amano's work goes beyond Final Fantasy. He also created a variant for the Harley Quinn comic series and a special gallery for Fate/Grand Order. Even the Nichiren Shu sect of Buddhism commissioned him to illustrate the influential Lotus Sutra scripture for a line of merchandise and commemorative art.

Detective Comics #1063 goes on sale on August 23, 2022.

The first official story trailer for Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been revealed. The trailer introduces the iconic four of Task Force X, as well as their recruiter and commander Amanda Waller. It also gives fans a glimpse into what exactly they'll be going up against once the game releases sometime in 2022.

As with most iterations of the Suicide Squad story, Waller selects several supervillains housed at Arkham Asylum to participate in a secret mission. These villains include Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Boomerang. The newly-formed Task Force X's mission is to kill the of the Justice League.

As seen in the previous announcement trailer, an affliction of some sort is affecting the superheroes. Superman and Flash, in particular, are suffering from ominous-looking black veins surrounding bright purple eyes. Other superheroes also make an appearance, including John Stewart's Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. Notably, the trailer also shows what looks to be a makeshift Batmobile, though the Dark Knight himself does not make a direct appearance.

New character art from Rocksteady's  Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League appeared as part of DC Fan Dome announcements. Four images of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang gave people a closer look at how they will appear in-game.

Several of the Rocksteady development team revealed the new images via Twitter. Rocksteady associate producer Holly Gordon introduces the iconic Harley Quinn, while marketing game manager Gaz Deaves highlights Deadshot's "disappointed dad energy". They're ed by VFX artist Hanno Hinkelbein who introduces Shark King, and sound designer Elly Johnson who asked fans to "raise a tinnie" for Captain Boomerang.

The high-resolution images are highly detailed, down to the tears in King Shark's shirt and scuffing of Deadshot's sniper. Harley Quinn is also shown wielding a barbwire-covered cricket bat and a revolver with the phrase "Who's Laughing Now??" etched on the side. All four showcased characters will be playable in Kill the Justice League, which currently has a 2022 release window.

The revealed images also hint that the game will appear at this year's DC FanDome on October 16, 2021. Last year, the reveal of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was spoiled early via the DC FanDome 2020 schedule along with Gotham Knights.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2022.

Another event with potential game news is on the way. DC Comics announced the next DC FanDome will be held on October 16, 2021. The official website updated and there is already a teaser trailer for the event.

Here’s the video announcing the virtual event. Like the 2020 DC FanDome, the 2021 affair will again be a global one and cover various announcements.

While DC FanDome events focus primarily on comics, shows, and movies, game announcements also appear. For example, DC FanDome 2020 was a big one for games. Ahead of the event, its schedule spoiled the reveals that both Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League would show up.

Gotham Knights was shown off in full for the first time at DC FanDome 2020. That’s when people saw how people would use Bat-Girl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin to fight familiar villains alone or with friends. The idea is that Batman died, and it is left to them to protect Gotham in the aftermath. As it now has a 2022 launch window, it is a candidate for an appearance at this year’s event.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League also has a 2022 launch window. It is a single or co-op game involving Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark as they go after the suddenly villainous Justice League.

DC FanDome 2021 will be held October 16, 2021.

With more people using video call services to keep in touch with people during shelter-in-place orders during the pandemic, different publishers have been releasing pieces of art folks can use as things like Zoom backgrounds. Sega and DC Comics are two of the latest, releasing Puyo Puyo, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman images people can use as backdrops while they attend meetings, participate in virtual classes, or talk with friends.

Sega has released four Puyo Puyo locations for those looking for video game Zoom backgrounds. While two of them feature Carbuncle, the series’ mascot, the focus for all of them is to showcase places people might have seen throughout the series’ history.

The DC Comics Zoom background selection is far more extensive. It includes locations people might have seen while reading Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman comics. To start, here are the six Batman Zoom backgrounds.

(They need to be at least 960px wide, and to have a 16:9 image if that’s the size you’re using for your meetings.) Green screens aren’t necessary, but they will help to ensure they display properly.
